Aug. 25 – After the 2012 exhibition, Domenico Monteforte is back at the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco. The ICI gallery will turn into a real painting studio, where the Tuscan artist will paint live the works that will then be exhibited at the Institute as a ‘work in progress.’ The project thus conceived gives visitors the possibility see how paintings are born, nourished and prepped for their first exhibition. The artist will arrive in San Francisco on September 18 and will begin work in a wing of the Institute. “This way – said the ICI in a statement – those who wish to meet the artist or those who want to see his creative techniques in action can. Once Monteforte has completed a painting, it will be put on display at the Institute.” The exhibition will run until November 2. In addition, the artist will paint something that will be donated to the San Francisco Opera. The title of the painting will be “That’s Opera!” and will represent on canvas some of the greatest characters in the history of opera music who in some way were linked with the San Francisco Opera. During his time in San Francisco, Monteforte will also attend several art gallery events: around October 7-8, there will be a party at the Institute to admire the first completed works. On November 2, there will be a final brunch to celebrate the exhibition.
