Apr. 9 – The Manezh Centre of Moscow hosted the first ever ceremony of The Art Newspaper Russia. Among the objectives of the Award: support the development of the art market, the spread of Russian art abroad and deepening the knowledge of the art world in Russia. The five award categories are: Show of the year, Museum of the Year, Book of the Year, Restoration of the year, and Personal Contribution. The award for the best show of the year was awarded to “Caravaggio (1571-1610). From Italian museums and the Vatican museums ” that the Italian Embassy organized at the end of 2011, in the framework of Italian-Russian Culture. The Art Newspaper Russia is a subsidiary of “The Art Newspaper” published in Italy.
