Sept. 1 – “Every man is the architect of his own fortune.” Inspired by the Latin motto, Franco Battiato puts on display a new side to his multifaceted artistic talent. The Sicilian singer-songwriter will personally inaugurate, on September 9 at 6pm in Istanbul, the exhibition “Quisque Faber Fortunae suae.” In the unusual guise of a painter, Battiato will present works that evoke the dream-like traits of ancestral physiognomy, born from a lavish and original creativity. “The core concepts of my reflection on art – says Battiato – are time, memory, history, beauty, the search for the invisible that emerges on the surface of the canvas. I like to reinterpret Byzantine and medieval art, with no intention to modernize it, of without following any formal orthodoxy, but drawing freely their references and motifs.” The exhibition hall of the Beyoglu Belediyesi Sanat Galerisi (Istiklal Cad. 217 Beyoglu- Istanbul) will reveal the author’s twenty years of research on the topics of meditation, spiritual quest, and his thirst for knowledge on Sept. 9.
