Sept. 2 – Jams, sweets, sausages, coffee and cheeses are the typical products made in Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta that London deli and grocery chains, restaurateurs, chefs, distributors and wholesalers will now experience first hand. On September 7-9, London will host 8 companies from Cuneo, Turin and Aosta at the Speciality & Fine Food Fair. The event is dedicated to UK buyers interested in crafted and high-end food and beverages. The presence of Italian firms in London is part of the Integrated Supply Chain Project Piedmont Food Excellence managed by the Foreign Centre for Internationalisation (Ceipiemonte) on behalf of the Piedmont Region, Unioncamere Piemonte and the Chambers of Commerce of Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta. It is realized in collaboration with the Centro Estero Alpi del Mare. “The UK is a lively market, always demanding quality products and where our offer is very much appreciated – noted Giuseppina De Santis, Regional Councilor for Productive Activities – agribusiness, for our Region, is a strategic sector.” London and the UK also offer a variety of other opportunities, including the new-found attention to environmental issues and ethics that has increased the range of consumers willing to pay more for better quality, sustainability and ethically respectful of labor standards worldwide. Italian food products also appeal to those who choose to buy local, fresh, natural products, preferably from small retail outlets, and purists who purchase only high quality, fresh and organic products. Both categories of consumers are able to distinguish between fake, Italian-sounding labels and the authentic quality of made in Italy.
