Montreal – The Italian Cultural Institute in Montreal, on the occasion of its participation in the European project “Performigrations: people are the territory”, is organizing a screening of the documentary “18 Ius Soli,” in presence of the Italian-raised director and producer Fred Kuwornu. The film will bring attention to the issue of citizenship, facing the delicate question of the nationality of Italian children born from immigrants. The documentary tells the stories of 18 young people born and raised on the Italian territory from parents coming from Latin America, Asia or Africa, living mixed feelings: belonging to Italy, the country in which they live, but with the impossibility obtain the status of an Italian citizen until they turn 18 and only after a specific request. The event will be held on October 22 at the Italian Cultural Institute in Montreal. (9Colonne)
