(Aug. 14) From August 16 until August 26 in the movie halls of Malba and of the Borges Cultural Center, 14 Italian contemporary movies, dealing with present-day events and issues, will be presented. Films by Avati, Montaldo, Olmi and other young authors are among these. Ozpetek also features in the list, since Italy has become a major source of inspiration for his productions. The Italian Consulate General in Buenos Aires organizes the event, announced over three months ago. “CinemITA – Cine Italiano Contemporaneo” was ideated by the General Consul Giuseppe Scognamiglio, who aimed at proposing a different, more contemporary vision of Italian society and its cultural debate. Finally, the event is sponsored by the Academia de las Artes y Ciencias Cinematograficas de la Argentina, as well as the Asociacion de cronistas cinematograficos de la Argentina, and Pantalla Pinamar 2013.
