Oct. 16 – The coat of arms is very significant: the Frecce Tricolori lapping Mount Triglav, combining two symbols of Italy and Slovenia. The choice made by the Embassy of Italy in Ljubljana for the photographic exhibition dedicated to Italy’s National Acrobatic Patrol, debuted yesterday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense in the Slovenian capital. The exhibition is aimed at strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two peoples. “It is a source of particular satisfaction to bring a show on our technical excellence in a country that is our friend,” observed in Ljubljana the Councilor for Cultural Heritage of the Friuli Venezia, Giulia Gianni Torrenti, who spoke at the opening. The initiative aims to highlight that the Italian presidency of the EU wishes to focus on the development of a European Security and Defence Policy, and to highlight the high level of integration between their armed forces. In addition to Slovenia’s airspace control, which is supported within Nato by the military alliance of Italy and Hungaria, Ljubljana and Rome also cooperate in international peacekeeping missions (Bosnia, Kosovo and Lebanon) and in operation Mare nostrum.
