Sept. 27 – Describing Italy is a hard task, but 20 artists have taken up the challenge, and are now presenting the fruit of their artistic labor: photographs, videos and sculptures of the region to which they belong. “Twenty for one, twenty regions for one Italy, twenty artists for one exhibition. A side look” is an ambitious and unique project, which arrives in Russia today. The contemporary Italian art traveling exhibition, after having made stops in South America, will remain in Moscow until October 20. The display will be hosted at the Gallery of Arts Zurab Tsereteli – Russian Academy of Arts as the fifth official collateral exhibition of the Moscow Biennale. The exhibition – sponsored by the Garuzzo Institute for the Visual Arts, IGAV of Turin – is expected in St. Petersburg, at the Loft Rizzordi Art Foundation from October 29 to November 17. In 2014, it will touch various European cities, including Bratislava and Zagreb. Announced by an eloquent image, a large deleted map made by Emilio Isgrò, one of the most important Italian contemporary masters, the exhibition highlights the creative vitality and production of the entire peninsula, including the smaller towns and not just the central cities around which the art system’s attention focuses mostly. The curator of the exhibition, Martina Corgnati, selected the artists, who do not belong to a defined generation or a fixed a priori category. Among them, there are both acknowledged masters and the emerging young. The curator declared that age has never been a valid criterion for artistic talent.
