Oct. 31 – Agricultural products, green economy, construction / infrastructure, and mining: these are just some of the many opportunities available for Italian companies investing in Ghana. The African country’s economic potential and existing collaboration opportunities were presented during the Ghana Trade and Investment Forum, organized by the UNIDO ITPO Italy office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with the World Trade Centre in Accra, Confindustria and the ICE Agency. “I believe that today’s meeting is an important step forward in relations between Italy and Ghana. It’s a pleasure to see such a positive response. It means we can already start thinking of a system mission for the next few months.” The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Michele Valensise, strongly believes in Ghana’s development, ” Valensise says he is “interested in following the results and performance of the country, which so far have been good from a political point of view and with regard to human rights, and economic growth seems stable. These elements make the whole prospective cooperation framework with Italy very promising.” The event saw the participation of a large delegation from Ghana, with institutional and commercial representatives. The Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Laura Carpini, spoke of “the Italian business community, deeply rooted in the territory, which brings added value for future cooperation agreements.” The president of the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade, Riccardo Monti commented: “Italy has finally defined its cooperation relationships, which allows us to have a more modern approach in helping countries such as Ghana, on which we will focus.” Ghana benefits from a strong political and economic structure that is going through a remarkable development, and is attractive to investors. Valensise turns the spotlight on “the strong support the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Government provide to companies operating abroad,” accompanying their “dynamism and courage” outside national borders. “It’s time to take action and strengthen ties,” said Ambassador Carpini, while Monti hopes for “a bright cooperation future with the country.” All agree on the important business opportunities that the country offers to Italian companies.
