Nov. 3 – Google, Unioncamere, Fondazione Symbola and the University Ca ‘Foscari of Venice continue their joint efforts to bring Italian companies into the digital age, making the most of the growing economic potential of using internet to promote their businesses. The “Made in Italy: excellence in the digital age” (eccellenzeindigitale.it) project has been enhanced with new tools to help SMEs create and strengthen their internationalization strategies. In today’s increasingly connected global scenario, online users amount to 2.5 billion; and by the end of the decade it is estimated they will surpass 5 billion, all equipped with devices connected to Internet. Numerous studies have shown that companies that use the web to promote their products grow twice as fast as those who are not online. “Italy has huge potential. Italian excellence is made up of millions of small and medium-sized enterprises, and they all have what it takes to expand their presence online – said Fabio Vaccarono, Managing Director of Google Italy – Thanks to digital technology, we can define real micro-multinationals, SMEs with high potential for export that have the opportunity to introduce their products and their excellence abroad in a simple and scalable manner.” “Italy today has an army of 214.000 exporting firms, a figure that increased by 2.000 units compared to last year, in part thanks to the support of the chamber system – clarified the President of Unioncamere, Ferruccio Dardanello – In addition to these, there is a wide audience, made up of 70.000 first-comers with an exporting potential that, through digital tools made available with our project, could to take the first big step towards internationalization and foreign markets.” (Red)
