Nov. 14 – On Nov. 19, a historical re-enactment on the presence of the Italian community in Constantinople in the early 20th century will take the stage. Istanbul, thanks to the Time Travel association and the collaboration of the Italian Embassy in Turkey, welcomes the initiative that involves the pupils of the Kolei Italian school, many of them descendants of the Levantine and Italian communities. The event saw the scientific collaboration of the University Ca ‘Foscari of Venice and the University of Ankara. The representation will commemorate a very special day for Italians who lived in Constantinople in 1902: the attribution of the Grand Officer of the Osmanie Order to Paolo Parma, businessman and former tailor to Sultan Abdulhamid. The ceremony took place in the Yildiz Palace in front of the Court, in December, during a visit of the King of Italy to Constantinople. (Cle)
