Washington – Italian exports in September improved drastically, + 7.4% compared to September 2013, mainly due to the strong recovery of extra-EU sales: + 3.3% compared to the previous month, and + 8.4% year on year. “Once again the results from non-EU markets seem to compensate for the disappointing performance on the domestic front – said Gaetano Fausto Esposito, Secretary General of Assocamerestero, while commenting on the Istat data on foreign trade released today – These countries generate the largest surplus in our external accounts, amounting, in the first nine months of the year, to €16 billion. In Europe, our exports amounted to €12 billion. In particular, the US is our largest non-EU market, with an increase of 13.3% in September alone, probably driven by the weakening of the euro.”(9Colonne)
