Dec. 9 – Italian design flies to Tirana with an exhibition dedicated to one of its founders: the great Vico Magistretti. Inaugurated today at the National Gallery of Arts in Tirana, “Svicolando” will remain open until December 29. The exhibition, organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Tirana in collaboration with the Fondazione Studio Museo Magistretti of Milan and the National Gallery of Arts in Tirana, tells the story of the long working relationship between Magistretti and some of the most important Italian companies in the design industry, such as Artemide, De Padova, Flou, Oluce and Schiffini. The inauguration will see the participation of Lorenzo Imbesi, Professor of Design at the University La Sapienza in Rome, who will draw a picture of the cultural phenomenon that is Italian design and production, focusing on the work of designers such as Magistretti. This is the first exhibition in Tirana dedicated to Italian design, and it will present to the public the first edition of the International Prize “Compasso D’Oro,” dedicated to Design for Food, inspired by the theme of Expo 2015.
