Dec. 16 – VeronaFiere launched the first bridge to connect the construction sector markets of the two shores of the Mediterranean with a four-day event that opened the first edition of MS Marmomacc Samoter Africa and Middle East, which brings to North Africa, particularly in Cairo, the marble and machines of quarry and construction industries. Egypt is a natural gateway for all markets in Africa and in the Near and Middle East, with $12 billion of investments planned for the Suez Canal, there are excellent opportunities for companies in the building sector looking to internationalize their activities. This is the chief reason, explains Giovanni Mantovani, Director General of VeronaFiere, three years ago the MS Marmomacc Samoter Africa and Middle East project was born, “working alongside our Egyptian partners of Art Line and Expolink, and with the fundamental support of Italian institutions, in the persons of Maurizio Massari, the Italian ambassador in Egypt, and Massimiliano Sponzilli, Director of the ICE office in Cairo. This first edition of the fair fully achieved our targets, and we have already fixed a second edition for Nov. 2-5, 2015. This time, it will take place at the same time as Projex Africa, a new fair on the building sector, focused on innovative materials and sustainable construction.” Director Mantovani, member of the Italian-Egyptian Business Council, met in Cairo with Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, Egyptian Minister for Industry and Commerce back in 2013, when VeronaFiere embarked on its first official visit abroad during Marmomacc.
