Jan. 16 – The C-27J Spartan is an international success. The new generation average tactical transport aircraft brought its producing company, Finmeccanica-Alenia Aermacchi, to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Peru. Signed last December 31, the contract is worth about €100 million for the supply of two planes. The contract, which brings up to four the total number of C-27J Spartan ordered by the Peruvian Air Force, also includes integrated logistics support and technical assistance. The first two aircrafts, ordered in December 2013, will be delivered to the Peruvian Air Force in the first months of 2015, while those in the second order will be delivered in 2016 and 2017. The aircraft will be operated by the Grupo Aéreo Nº 8, based in Callao, on the central coast. “The C-27J Spartan – explains a note from Finmeccanica – was chosen for its ability to operate in a safe, efficient and cost-competitive manner in all the operational scenarios of the Latin American country, including activities on the slopes of the Andes and the numerous local airports. Apart from Peru, the C-27J Spartan has already been ordered by the air forces of Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Romania, Morocco, Slovakia, the United States, Mexico, Australia and an African country, for a total of 80 aircrafts.”
