Feb. 5 – Ten years of Giffoni in Albania. It’s an anniversary to celebrate in a special way. And so the Giffoni Experience is back in Tirana for the tenth edition of the Giffoni – Albania Film Festival, which will open officially tomorrow and will continue for some months. Director Claudio Gubitosi, together with the festival coordinator Albanian Niko Ajazi, drafted an extensive program to celebrate the first ten years of the festival in Albania. “Since 2005 – explains Ajazi – we involved more than 60,000 children from various cities in Albania (Tirana, Shkodra, Vlora, Durres, Elbasan, Saranda, Korca). This year, we celebrate 10 years of business, an occasion for which we organized a program that starts on February 6 and ends in late April with a big party for all the children. The event will bring together jurors from all the countries that in recent years participated in the Albanian initiatives: Kosovo, Montenegro, Romania, Macedonia, Georgia, Hungary, Spain, Portugal, Tunisia, Croatia, Serbia and Italy. This year, we will choose the four young people who will participate in the 45th edition of GEx in July.” “It is undoubtedly a very ambitious project – remarks Gubitosi – that will gave us a lot of satisfaction. This year, we may celebrate the tenth anniversary of Giffoni Albania but we have been here for the past 27 years. Giffoni has always devoted much space to Albanian cinematography and filmmakers, presenting to the world monographic exhibitions that would have otherwise remained undiscovered. Now we look to the future. We decided to put online our history and our know-how – continues Gubitosi – to offer new opportunities to children around the world. We planned a great number of activities for the 2015-16 period within the Giffoni Voyager project, and we will also be engaged worldwide, from Los Angeles to Qatar and in many European cities.”
