Feb. 24 – Bianca d’Aponte was a promising songwriter that a tragic fate took away from this world at 23, while she was working on her first album. A decade later (Bianca passed in 2003), her musical universe lives on and crosses linguistic borders: on March 8, on International Women’s Day, her songs will be interpreted in many languages by as many international artists. It will be the highlight of the four days of the “Bianca d’Aponte International,” an event promoted and organized by Cose di Amilcare, the Spanish branch of Club Tenco, which brings Italian excellence in Catalonia. Everything comes from the Prix d’Bianca Aponte, which is much more than a festival. It is a unique creature, home to a music competition reserved exclusively for songwriters. Every year, Aversa, Bianca’s birthplace, welcomes artists, authors, experts, and intellectuals among the most important in Italy in addition to the selected finalists. The Centre Artesà Tradicionàrius Barcelona stages a show, conceived by Sergio Secondiano Sacchi, made of 19 sets. The songs will be sung in Italian (by Katres, songwriter from Aversa finalist at the Prix Aponte), English (by Anita Zengeza from Zimbabwe and the British Samantha De Siena), Spanish (by Ana K. García and Victoria Niven of the band Por Por H or V, both from Argentina), German (by Vera Gottschall), French (by Céline Pruvost), Catalan (by Rusó Hall), Maltese (by TroffaHamra) and in various languages by the multiethnic group Dinatatak. Bianca’s repertoire will be also interpreted through dance, thanks to one of the international masters of jazz dance, Julyen Hamilton, who will perform with Paolo Cingolani. Fausto Mesolella, artistic director of the Bianca d’Aponte Prize, will play the guitar to a recording of a song sung by Bianca, as part of a short concert during which the Prize Rambaldi 2015 will be handed out. The set for the event is by internationally famous artist Marco Nereo Rotelli. Bianca’s songs performed during the evening will be part of a CD, conceived by Cose di Amilcare, to be presented during the next edition of the Bianca d’Aponte Prize, scheduled for October 16-17.
