Mar. 27 – MedFilm is increasingly international. The festival, which counts on 21 years of activities in the Mediterranean and Middle East, will be in Morocco, in Tetouan, starting tomorrow. While the next official edition will be held in Rome November 6-13, MedFilm is on a journey towards the South by participating with a beautiful and meaningful selection Italian films, for the seventh consecutive year, in the Festival du Cinéma Méditerranéen de Tétouan, scheduled from tomorrow until April 4. The Italian films in the official competition are: “Il giovane favoloso” by Mario Martone, and “I nostri ragazzi” by Ivano De Matteo. For the documentary competition, MedFilm selected, “Io sto con la sposa” by Antonio Augugliaro, Gabriele Del Grande, and Khaled Soliman Al Nassiry, an important hybrid political/documentary experiment on solidarity and respect between Mediterranean peoples, which follows the journey from Lambedusa to Sweden of five Palestinians and Syrians. In the short film competition, there are the award-winning “ReCuiem” by Valentina Carnelutti, and “Stella Maris” by Giacomo Abbruzzese, set in a small village on the shores of the Mediterranean, on the day of the Madonna Stella Maris procession. One of the members of the jury for the official competition of the 21st edition of the Festival of Tetouan is journalist, writer and film critic Giona A. Nazzaro. On top of the official competition, in section Séances Spéciales, there are two beautiful and important works that, with the perfect balance of engagement and entertainment, explain just how present the mafia is in everyday life: Anime Nere by Francesco Munzi and La mafia uccide solo d’estate by Pierfrancesco Diliberto.
