Mar. 27 – From Emilia Romagna to India in the name of research and cooperation: this is the mission of a group of researchers from the Chemistry Department at the University of Parma. They traveled in recent days to the Asian country to coordinate and participate in a rich program of initiatives. The group, led by Professor Anna Painelli and Dr. Cristina Sissa, is composed of five doctoral candidates in Chemistry and Material Science and Technology. The activities started with a conference, organized by Professor Painelli in collaboration with colleagues Swapan K. Pati and Subi George of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) with the support of the Italian Embassy in New Delhi. The conference focused on the International Year of Light, was titled “Light on Molecular Functional Materials,” and saw the participation of Professor Lidia Szpyrkowicz, science attaché at the Italian Embassy in New Delhi, as well as several researchers of the two nations. The high-level scientific presentations, the presence of a large group of young people, and European researchers turned the conference into a lively and productive moment. The Italian Ambassador to India congratulated the group for the event, which reinforces the perception of two nations united by their centers of excellence in the field of materials science. During the eventthe collaboration agreement between JNCASR and three Italian universities (University of Parma, Genoa University and Politecnico di Milano) was perfected to promote scientific cooperation and researchers exchange.
