Beijing – While the US market for Italian wines grew by 37% in 13 years, and the Russian one grew by 121% in the same period, the other market featuring constant growth, with an increase of more than 57%, is China. It is estimated that by 2023, the number of affluent Chinese will grow by 50%, and with them the “ideal consumer” of quality Italian wine. This is the scenario that emerged from the study “Focus Marketing analysis and study of the young agriculture universe,” presented by Nomisma Wine monitor and Agia-Cia (the Association of Young Farmers) at Vinitaly in Verona. It follows that young Italian winemakers, a small army of 24,500 entrepreneurs, of which about 3,600 have their own wine cellar, are looking to the Asian market, perceived as a new “America”.
