Mar. 30 – The project is part of the activities planned in the MoU between the Umbria Region and the Albanian government. The goal is to develop the epidemiological service offer of the Albanian health system, with special reference to cardiovascular diseases. The Italian region participates as a partner, providing its “best practices” in health management, and exchanging technical and organizational skills provided by local actors and the University of Perugia, also in light of potential bidirectional collaborations. “This is a unique opportunity – said the vice president of the Umbria Region, Carla Casciari – to start a successful cooperation between Umbria and Albania’s health systems, through cooperation objectives that can open up to other areas of common interest, with the involvement of production and institutional systems in the two countries. For example, there are Umbrian businesses active in the biomedical sector that are interested in restructuring and qualifying Albania’s public health system. Umbria and Albania are connected by a strong friendship. And Italy’s growing presence in Albania brings many Italian medical students to Tirana. Conversely, the large Albanian community in Umbria counts over 16.000 people.” (Cle)
