London – New and positive knowledge and action of metformin in the presence of breast cancer reveal that it is possible to use this molecule not only in pre-clinical evidence, but also in clinical use. This is the conclusion put forth by the recently published study in Cancer Treatment Reviews, leading to innovative interpretations of the multifactorial and heterogeneous nature of breast cancer. The study, entitled “Metformin and breast cancer: basic knowledge in clinical context,” was conducted by a multidisciplinary Italian-American team coordinated by the Dr. Maddalena Barba, from the National Cancer Institute Regina Elena in Rome, in collaboration with Professor Antonio Giordano from University of Siena and director of the Sbarro Institute in Philadelphia.
