Apr. 20 – “The Politecnico di Torino has been highly evaluated and now ranks among the top 100 universities in the world, confirming the quality of the research and training carried out within the university as well as the policies that we are adopting for technology transfers,” comments with enthusiasm Marco Gilli, Dean of the Politecnico di Torino. The European Union presented the second edition of the U-ranking Multirank: not a ranking but an analytical assessment that gives individual universities a key to understanding its strengths and weaknesses. U-Multirank is an independent body funded by the European Union to carry out this activity for the 2013-2016 period; it’s the largest ranking in the world that uses international databases (publications, brevett), and 31 identified indicators, to which a score is assigned from A (highest) to E. For Multirank 2015, only 8% of the examined universities received more that 10 As – “Very Good”; among these, there is the Politecnico di Torino, which fits well in the top100 of the more than 1,200 educational institutions in 83 countries evaluated in the ranking – including even the most important American universities like MIT, Harvard and Berkeley. “This ranking – continues Gilli – is particularly interesting and valuable because it involves a really high number of universities and because it is based on an analysis that comes from the work of a group of international experts.” (Red)
