Apr. 27 – On Friday, May 8 at 2:30 pm at the Palace of Italian institutions in Tangier is scheduled a conference entitled “Identités féminines dans l’art contemporain.” Organized by the French Institute of Tangiers in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Rabat on the occasion of the “Salon des Livres et des Arts,” the meeting will see the participation of a special guest particularly tied to Morocco: Toni Maraini (stage name of Antonella Maraini). A historian, writer, poet, essayist and scholar of the Maghreb, Maraini a few years ago (in 2008) received the Palme de Marrakech in recognition for her writings on art and culture in Morocco. She is also the author of the book “Ecrits sur l’art “(1990), which describes and analyzes aspects of Moroccan and Maghreb art history. The Italian writer has a special relationship with Morocco, where she lived between 1964 and 1987, teaching at the University of Rabat and other institutions. Her time in the country was masterfully reported in the book “Ultimo tè a Marrakesh.” (PO / red)
