Apr. 28 – A new agreement for a 1800 MW hydroelectric project sees the Papua New Guinea government and the Italian company Salini-Impregilo work together for a $2 billion project in infrastructure. The agreement, which will include the construction of the dam in the province of Simbu Karamui, has been identified as a priority in infrastructure development in the country. In Papua New Guinea, a country with a tenth of the Italian population and more surface, infrastructure is yet to be developed. The agreement with Salini-Impregilo is part in the government’s plan to build roads, highways, airports, ports, communication systems and power generation. All works that, among other things, want to satisfy a growing demand for tourism and natural resource exports.
