May 18 – Granfranco Ferrè, Giorgio Armani, Gai Mattiolo, Enrico Coveri, Renato Balestra, and Laura Biagiotti are just some of the Italian designers who left their mark in the history of fashion. Their creativity, passion, imagination, and taste created styles, traditions, ideas of elegance, and quality. But above all, their talent is a symbol of Made in Italy around the world. And so Hungary celebrates Italian talents with a scheduled exhibition at the Italian Cultural Institute in Budapest – June 3-25 – entitled “Italian fashion. A story of seduction.” The Institute will host extraordinary creations (for their processing techniques and precious materials) and selected clothes that illustrate the different creative paths and alternative characteristic of each of the designers featured in the exhibition. Roberto Capucci (the maestro who knew how to turn fashion into a pure expression of art), Granfranco Ferrè (and his geometric constructions), Giorgio Armani and Andrè Laug’s evening dresses, and Marella Ferrera and Gai Mattiolo’s laces and embroidery will be there. Visitors will also be seduced by the bon-ton elegance presented by Lorenzo Riva and by the classic princess cuts developed by Irene Galitzine. Valentino’s particular shade of red, created for supermodel Claudia Schiffer and displayed in the FIT Museum of New York during the exhibition “Red Exhibit,” will also be there. Other featured elements include: Lancetti’s colors and patterns – albeit with different tones and rhythms; Enrico Coveri’s macro-sequins; Renato Balestra’s inlays and applications: Mariella Burani’s gypsy style, and Prince Egon Von Furstenberg’s regal and opulent glamor. Space is also the queen of cashmere – Laura Biagiotti – and Versace’s sophisticated luxury. The exhibition offers a look into high Italian fashion, synonymous with excellence, culture, elegance, craftsmanship, attention to detail, creativity and technical intelligence.
