May 26 – The Italian Institute of Culture in Madrid pays tribute to the greatest exponent of Italian crepuscularism: Guido Gozzano. Tonight (at 8pm), the IIC presents the anthology “Poesia,” published by Renacimiento and Universidad de Extremadura. The collection was curated by José Muñoz Rivas, who will present the volume alongside Gaia Danese and Jordi Virallonga. The debate focuses on the figure of the Turin poet, who made irony an art form. The anthology – in Spanish – offers the reader a selection of his poems: “fragments” that include all of Gozzano’s creative phases. Born in Turin in 1883 and prematurely disappeared in 1916, at the age of 33, Gozzano is one of the most influential poets of Italian poetry of the twentieth century despite having published only two books of poetry “La via del rifugio” (Turín, 1907) and “I colloqui. Liriche “(Milan, 1911). ” La via del rifugio ” is the result of a rigorous selection of poetic material elaborated since 1905. Published in 1911, “I colloqui” is a collection of Gozzano’s mature period, and crepuscularism. The work is presented as an organic book, structured in three parts (Il giovane errore, Alle soglie, il reduce), dedicated to as many moments of the existence of the young poet. He also worked on a short poem epic, “Le Farfalle”, and wrote short stories and fairy tales.
