May 29 – Towers, canals, ancient gates, drawbridges, gardens, parks and art treasures: all this is the De Haar castle, the largest castle in the Netherlands, just outside the city of Utrecht. The neo-Gothic castle of the Dutch village – one of the most beautiful in Europe – hosts a three-day event entirely dedicated to Italy, its colors, scents and traditions. From today until Sunday, May 31 the castle will serve as backdrop to “Italië Evenement. Smaak & Stijl,” an occasion for the public to discover – or rediscover – all that is beautiful and good in Italy. The event involves over 220 exhibiting companies as well as artists, musicians and chefs. The event also features a Venetian gondola that will take guests on an exclusive tour of Venice along the castle’s canals. After this magical experience, the public will also enjoy a product that has spread almost all over the world, an original dish of Italian cuisine: Neapolitan pizza. To this regard, the event has in its schedule the National Championship of Pizza cooked in a wood oven. Of the many scheduled appointments for the weekend, there is also the free show of the Circo Zanzara. (Gil)
