Richmond – “Eye-check” is the winning project to emerge from the third edition of Start Up Lab, the laboratory where graduate, doctoral and post-doc students work together to develop innovative ideas, followed by a team of tutors made up of startuppers, entrepreneurs, managers, academics and consultants. The event – organized by the University of Trento – recently ended with 12 projects presented by the various working groups. Daniel Adrian Lungu and Diana Bassi of the Department of Economics, along with Elena Kalinina, Péter Kiss, Jurian van Dalfsen and Savita Seetaraman from the Department of Engineering, won first place. Their project involved the implementation of a thermal imaging camera that, via infrared technology, is able to diagnose the presence of tumor masses in the eye of the patient. “Eyecheck” will participate in a global student competition for innovation, the Virginia Tech Knowledge Work, which is held every August in the United States.
