20 July, 2015 – “Becoming ambassadors of Friuli Venezia Giulia in a distant country, with new and different realities, allows young scouts attending the world gathering in program in Japan to build an additional and important part of their training. There are the right conditions to train young people to a better Europe, and the scouting movement can accompany these citizens of tomorrow,” with these words the President of the Region, Debora Serracchiani, saluted in recent days the delegation of the Udine Scouts of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The team left for Japan, where from July 27 to August 8 it will participate in the third World Scout Jamboree, the largest global event that attracts young people from around the world united by the idea put forth by Robert Baden-Powell, the British educator who in 1907 invented scouting. The international meeting is held every four years and this will bring to the city of Yamaguchi nearly 40,000 scouts from 164 countries, who will work on the themes of energy, innovation and harmony. “It’s a great experience, a way – remarked the President – to put together different pieces of training that the scouts pursued during the year, and they will live with awareness. “Our young students – concluded Serracchiani – have at their disposal all the tools to build the future of Europe”. 756 Italian boys and girls between the ages of 14 and 16, selected at national level, will participate in the event and learn of the habits and customs of Japan.
