(24 July 2015) Cooperation, research, and security: Modena and Israel are closer than ever thanks to the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, which hosted the first “Cyberlab” on Security in collaboration with Tel Aviv University. In particular, the two institutions reached an agreement that provides for the exchange of researchers to develop less vulnerable electronic and computer systems. The Italian university signed an agreement with the Israeli University for the construction of a laboratory on computer security – the Cyberlab – to be established at the Department of Engineering “Enzo Ferrari”. The agreement, sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was signed in Tel Aviv on July 20 on the occasion of the visit of the Minister of Education, University and Research Stefania Giannini. The Italian Ambassador to Israel HE Francesco Maria Talò was also present at the signing ceremony. The agreement provides for the hospitality of PhD students, researchers and professors at the University of Modena-Reggio Emilia to conduct research on more advanced topics of computer security. Present at the time of signing on behalf of Unimore was prof. Sergio Ferrari, Vice Dean and Deputy Dean for internationalization, who commented that “the Tel Aviv University is a gloavl excellence in the field of cybersecurity and represents the vital center of the start-up nation that is Israel. We are therefore honored that the first joint research laboratory built by this prestigious Israeli institution can rely on the expertise present in our university.
