London – Carmen Consoli is the only artist to represent Italy at the Meltdown Festival scheduled Aug. 17-30 in London. The “cantantessa”, who will perform on August 21, was chosen by the artistic director of the prestigious event, David Byrne, also founder of Talking Heads and winner of an Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy for Best Music score for Bernardo Bertolucci’s film “The Last Emperor”. So far the only Italian artist to have participated in the Festival is Dona Cristina, in 2001. Carmen Consoli will be performing on stage at the SouthBank Centre of the City, the same stage on which Estrella Morente, Anna Calvi and Benjamin Clementine will perform. (9Colonne)
