14 August, 2015 – Mid-August at the MilanExpo means ice cream, the Italian symbol of summer. With about 25 thousand Italian ice cream stores, of which 7 thousand abroad means that Expo2015 can offer the best of the great variety of tastes offered everyday worldwide: dates, saffron or mango, but also blueberries, corn or beer. Starting at 10am, visitors will be invited to discover the World Fair with tastings of fresh creams and initiatives of solidarity, as well as flavors of the world. The ice cream carts, spread along the Cardo and Decumano all day, at 5pm will gather on Cardo South. For the Feast of Ice Cream 2015, Expo’s ice cream partners are supporting an important solidarity initiative: Algida will donate their packaged ice cream to inmates at Bollate, near the site of the Universal Exhibition. In addition, throughout the day, Algida Cornetto Share the Love will cost only €1 and part of the proceeds will go to Save the Children, to support projects against child mortality. During the morning, Piazzetta Piacenza will distribute free ice cream to visitors lined up waiting to enter Palazzo Italia; in the afternoon, 4-5pm, it will offer an ice cream snack made with local products from Piacenza and in the evening, 6:40-7:30pm, it will offer an aperitif with gourmet ice cream, flavored with Red Gold tomato and Gutturnio wine. Rigoletto Gelato e Cioccolato has instead paired up with the Angelo Poretti Brewery to create a beer-flavored ice cream. Also for €1, the Italian Pavillion will sell a watermelon sorbet with mint. In line with its philosophy of “ice cream of the district”, attentive to social values, Rigoletto will donate part of the proceeds to charity. And in partnership with Varvello, it will pair up its vanilla ice cream with a panettone prepared with Integralbianco flour. For the Ice Cream Feast, the participating countries will present cones and cups with unusual tastes. (Red)
