17 August, 2015 – The famous bass-baritone Paolo Bordogna – who until August 29 plays the role of Figaro at the Sydney Opera House – will be featured on August 24 in a recital sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute of the Australian city, in collaboration with the Rossini Opera Festival, Opera Australia and in connection with the screening cycle “Viva Rossini!”. Bordogna will be at the Institute (at 6pm) to present a selection of arias taken from his CD “Tutto buffo.” Renowned singer both at home and abroad, Bordogna studied with Roberto Coviello and perfected his art with Katia Ricciarelli and Bianca Maria Casoni at the International Lyric Academy of Desenzano del Garda, and with Alberto Zedda at the Rossini Academy in Pesaro. In 2000, Bordogna received the “Caruso” Prize, and in 2006 the “Bastianini” Prize. His baritone voice allows him to extend his vocals into a bass-baritone and basso buffo. Host of the Rossini Opera Festival from 2005 to 2013 (La Gazzetta, La Cambiale di Matrimonio, La Gazza Ladra, Recital di Belcanto, La Scala di Seta, Le Nozze di Teti e Peleo, La Cenerentola, Matilde di Shabran, L’Occasione fa il Ladro), Bordogna is today one of the leaders of the repertoire. Thanks to his ductility and great acting skills, he has interpreted over 50 characters, including different roles in the same works: Malatesta and Don Pasquale, Dandini and Don Magnifico, Bartolo and Figaro, Belcore and Dulcamara in a repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary works, with a knack for Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti and “Bel Canto”.
