August 20, 2015 – Italian beer exports increased by 27% in volume in 2015 over 2014, with almost half of shipments destined for the UK, whose pubs started selling Italy’s craft beer. The Coldiretti analyzed Istat data for the first five months of 2015, highlighting the importance of ExpoMilan as an international stage. This result – underlines Coldiretti – has progressively consolidated with Italian beer exports, which have tripled in the last decade, a significant achievement despite the crisis. “To support exports – continues Coldiretti – is the boom in the production of craft beer in Italy. In addition to contributing to the economy, this beer is also a strong boost to employment, especially for those under 35, the most active in the field with innovations: the certification of the origin at zero kilometers, direct link with farms, production of specialties, and innovative forms of distribution, such as the brewpub or Campagna Amica farmers markets.”
