31 August, 2015 – Johann Sebastian Bach, César Franck, Georg Friedrich Handel, Serge Rachmaninoff, and Domenico Scarlatti are just some of the composers that relive in the concerts by performer, designer and organist Francesco Finotti. Finotti is set to perform on Saturday, September 5 (at 8pm) at the church of Sant’Andrea in Cologne. The event (held in one of the most beautiful churches in the city), confirms the website of the Italian Institute of Culture in Cologne, will have at its center the Paduan Maestro, who for years now has been performing abroad. Finotti teaches organ and Gregorian chant at the Conservatory “Pollini” in Padua, but is also devoted to the design and construction of modern organs. His discography includes works by Schumann, Liszt, Franck, JS Bach, Mozart, Messiaen, Dupré, Langlais and Satie. In his long career, he has performed at major international organ music festivals; and many of his recordings are transmitted by major European broadcasters. Finotti is often called to serve on the jury of international organ competitions and collaborate with soloists as an accompanist at the piano or harpsichord, thereby nurturing the chamber repertoire. On the “Kleuker-Steinmayer” organ of Zurich’s Tonhalle, he also recorded on CD the organ works by Robert Schumann and Franz Liszt. (Red)
