London – The Department of Physics and Earth Sciences “Macedonio Melloni” of the University of Parma, in the persons of Professor Sandro Wimberger and his collaborators, is working on the theory of atomtronics design systems, for which the experimental part is entrusted to the group of prof. Herwig Ott of the German University of Kaiserslautern. The first fruit of this collaboration is “Negative differential conductivity in an interacting quantum gas,” recently published in the journal Physical Review Letters. The researchers studied the behavior of current atoms in empty spaces and the redistribution of the atoms themselves. Atomtronics represents a new horizon of quantum physics that studies the streams of particles such as neutral atoms. (9Colonne)
