September 11, 2015 – “It’s with great satisfaction that we support the growth of young Italian talent in the highly competitive American scientific and research environment,” said Fabio De Furia, executive vice president of the Miami Scientific Italian Community and President of the Rome Research Consortium, during a series of meetings with the Florida International University and the University of Miami. With the support of the Consulate General of Italy in Miami, these operators presented and promoted Coltures Risks and Prevention Observation Platform (Cropp), a project developed by a team of students from the University La Sapienza in Rome. The scientific mission was planned to support the future research and development of Cropp, which received the App Award from NASA, visited the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, and received an award from the American Embassy in Italy. The mission culminated in a series of workshops with the most prestigious academic and scientific institutions, organized and sponsored by the Miami Scientific Italian Community. “Our role is to aggregate the Italian scientific community present in Florida to promote Italy-USA collaborations among academic and scientific institutions. Excellences within Italian universities – concludes De Furia – need the support to create, in the near future, production companies that contribute to the development of our economic system.” “Our goal – said Vita Maria Valluzzi, Vicar of the Consul General, Economic, Financial and Commercial Attaché of the Consulate General of Italy in Miami – is to present Italian excellence abroad linked to innovative, high-technology sectors. Appointments like these will facilitate the meeting and dialogue among the driving forces in the industry, such as research centers, venture capital, the innovation of large and medium-sized companies and universities and laboratories in Florida. For us – she concludes – it is a priority to support and make our scientific and economic system more competitive, helping export the heritage of our technological excellence”. (Red)
