September 21st, 2015 – Assocoral, the National Coral and Cameo Association, is currently working along three main axes: protecting coral resources, company development and marketing, and overseas promotion. Gioia De Simone, daughter of Antonino De Simone, coral entrepreneur and symbol of the historic company “Antonino De Simone”, as vice-president of the association will take part in a meeting scheduled for tomorrow (6.30pm) at the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo, in a conference entitled “Coral: history and relationships between Torre del Greco and Japan.” The meeting reviews the history of coral, from its mythical origins to its use as material for artistic creations, and the growth of a modern industry that has in Torre del Greco one of its main hotspots. This and much more will be discussed during the conference, including the spread of coral in Asia and trade relations between the Torre del Greco and Japan. The event – organized by the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute – will be accompanied by a display of historical photos and precious coral jewelry. (PO / red)
