London – The Grosseto hospital brings home another success in the field of international medical research. A study that involved over 8,000 patients (in 78 hospitals across Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain and Sweden) was in part coordinated by the Hemodynamics Center of Grosseto, which focused on the “Matrix-OCT” substudy associated with the research. The results were published by two major magazines world of medicine, the New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet, and at the end of August were presented in London, during the European Cardiology Congress, the largest in the world with over 30,000 professionals. Matrix (an acronym for Minimizing Adverse Hemorrhagic Events by Transradial Access Site and Systemic Implementation of AngioX Program) studied patients undergoing coronary angioplasty, comparing two different methods – access through the radial artery or the femoral artery – and the use of two anticoagulant drugs used during the angioplasty: bivalirudin and heparin.
