September 24, 2015 – Across the Atlantic, we know, the calls of a Great Beauty like Rome do not fall on deaf ears. And today, Americans have another way to express their admiration to the Eternal City. The City of Rome signed an agreement with the King Baudouin Foundation United States, a non-profit organization specializing in fund-raising activities, to set up a special fund dedicated to Rome, called “Rome Heritage”, reserved to US citizens. “With this instrument, the Capitoline Administration adds another essential element to the search of funds for the restoration, preservation and promotion of the city’s cultural heritage,” explained Ignazio Marino, who is currently in the US for a series of presentations with foreign investors on this new opportunity, absolutely innovative for the Italian public sector. “This initiative will enable all American donors to deduct the charitable funds from their taxes, as provided by US law, hopefully increase the volume of foreign capital from the US that reaches the Eternal city. We want to turn the spotlight on the beauty of Rome, which is a service to the entire country and an Ambassador of Italy – continues the mayor – This is the meaning behind the past two years of travels abroad, bilateral meetings held with more than 60 ambassadors, and those with guests and potential funders. Those who can’t understand the importance of these activities obviously don’t care about what’s good for our city: they don’t understand that private contributions are a vital element and basically only resource left to enhance and preserve a priceless heritage.” (Red)
