September 28th, 2015 – His “Clash of Civilizations Over an Elevator in Piazza Vittorio”, now also a feature film, has aroused a great deal of praise among the public and critics alike, offering a new perspective on immigration in Italy. From September 30 to October 4, the Italian writer of Algerian origin Amara Lakhous will have the opportunity to meet with the Canadian public, with events in Montreal and Quebec set up by the Italian Cultural Institute in Montreal in collaboration with other institutions. On October 1, at 6:30pm, the writer will be at the Italian Cultural Institute in Montreal for an event chaired by Professor Elena Benelli, author with Grace Russo Bullaro of “Shifting and Shaping National Identity. Transnational Writers and Pluriculturalism in Italy Today”. Before this, at 3.30pm Amara Lakhous will meet with the students of Concordia University, as part of an initiative that will see the participation of Professor Benelli. On October 2 (at 7pm) the writer will visit the Dante Alighieri Society and the University of Laval in Quebec, in the Charles-De Koninck pavilion, thanks to Professor Zelie Guevel and Eleanora Nicolosi, PhD. The meeting will be in Italian. On Saturday, 3 October (1:30-3:30pm), during the Festival international de la literature, Amara Lakhous will meet the writer Stanley Péan. The debate, in French, will take place after the screening of the film “Clash of Civilizations Over an Elevator in Piazza Vittorio” at the Auditorium of the Grande Bibliothèque. (Red)
