Aug. 12 – Montreal’s Italian Week Festival, at its 20th edition, celebrates until august 19 Federico Fellini’s most significant films. There will be screenings with subtitles in English and French. “Originally from Emilia Romagna, say the organizers of the event, Fellini made Italian cinema’s history, from his debut to the end of his career, which gave rise to Italian comedy as we know it today. His movies were a testimony to the pain of a people recovering from the war: it was neorealism at its finest. As time went by, the atmosphere of his movies became lighter, characterized by humanism and comedy simultaneously.” The screenings will continue until August 16 at Casa Italia in Rue Jean Talon Est, when the festival will come to an end with La Dolce Vita.
