October 2nd, 2015 – Bianca d’Aponte was a promising songwriter, who prematurely departed this world in 2003, at 23, while she was working on her first album. But Bianca and her love for music continue to live in the Prize “Bianca d’Aponte – City of Aversa”, the most important song writing festival dedicated to women in Italy. This year, the prize widens its borders and becomes international, with one award assigned abroad and an event held in Barcelona last March. In a press conference held yesterday at the SIAE Library in Palazzo del Bucardo in Rome, the 11th edition of the Award was presented, as always under the artistic direction of Fausto Mesolella. The event will take place on October 16-17 in the Cimarosa Theater in Aversa. Many important guests will walk the stage of the Aponte, including one of the most beautiful and sophisticated voices in the Italian music scene, Ginevra Di Marco, who, with the rock vibes of Csi and Pgr and with her many musical and cultural research projects, has traced a unique path in the history of Italian songwriting. Guests also include Elena Ledda, Mariella Nava, Brunella Selo, Fausta Vetere, Raiz, Giuseppe Anastasi, Diodato, Renzo Rubino, Carlo Mercadante and many others. After the ten-year celebrations of 2014, which featured a change in the established formula of the festival, the traditional approach is back: two evenings during which ten finalists will perform one of their songs out of competition, and one in the competition. The big news this year is the establishment of an international section with the Bianca d’Aponte International, an event conceived and set up by Sergio Secondiano Sacchi, an expert of songwriters and among the leaders of the Club Tenco. The event was held on March 8 in Barcelona, and the prize was awarded to an artist chosen among the many monitored, in agreement with the Barcelona Association “Cose di Amilcare”. The first international female artist to receive the award is the Catalan singer Silvia Come, who, among her many artistic merits, will be rewarded “for her twenty-year commitment in which she devoted herself to put music in so many pages of Spanish and Catalan women’s poetry.” The city of Barcelona will also host the second international event, scheduled for March 6, 2016, which will serve as a springboard for the establishment of a new section dedicated to bringing music to poetry. For the awards ceremony in Aversa, Comes won’t be the only international artist in attendance: the English Samantha de Siena, the French Celine Pruvost, the Tunisian M’Barka Ben Taleb, and the Alghero Sardinian Claudia Crabuzza will propose, in the course of the two evenings, one of their songs and one by Bianca d’Aponte translated and sung in their respective languages.
