October 12th, 2015 – Massimiliano Finazzer Flory – actor, playwright and director from Friuli – reprises the role of Leonardo Da Vinci at the Jones Hall Theater of the prestigious University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas, tomorrow night with the successful show “Being Leonardo da Vinci: the impossible interview,” by and with Finazzer Flory. “The show has a format unique – explains the artist – because it’s recited in two languages: English and Renaissance Italian. In Houston, Leonardo is known as the best icon of an Italy that combines scientific research and love of art.” The performance is a kind of impossible interview: the role of the interviewer went to the American cellist Julia Kent. Finazzer Flory – wearing period costumes and makeup that is a real reconstruction of the face of the genius – answers questions with words from the past, tracing a precise profile of the scientist, inventor, painter, and philosopher who first discovered the sense of nature and its relationship with art. “Being Leonardo da Vinci” premiered in London during the exhibition “Leonardo da Vinci. Painter at the court of Milan,” and has since been staged in Japan and in the United States. Before Houston, the show was successfully acclaimed in New York (at the Morgan Library) and Washington DC (Kennedy Center). (Gil)
