October 23rd, 2015 – The exhibition by Alessandro Sanna “Il Fiume Lento” opened yesterday in Prague, where it will close on November 1. The showcase by “the most minimalist of Italian illustrators” is on display at Villa Pellé (Small Gallery), Pelleova 10. “To make the sky, you need water; to make the ground, you need water; to make everything, you need water. Water is the basic ingredient of all things.” The watercolors exhibition is the quiet tale of four seasons, four stories that run along the Po, portraying the life cycle governed by water. Sanna uses variations of colors and enchanting glazes. The paintings capture an exciting atmosphere, full of charm. And they make us reflect on the relationship between man, space and events, the value of time that flows like the river, on and on. Painter and illustrator, Alessandro Sanna won the Andersen Award for Best Author in 2009, and is now a household name in Italy and Europe. His work also appeared in The New York Times Book Review and The New Yorker. Today he lives in Mantua, and teaches illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. Avid reader since childhood and designer, he works with the French version of “Vanity Fair” and illustrates books for children and adults translated all over the world. “Il Fiume Lento. Un viaggio lungo il Po” is also the title of a book authored by Sanna, collecting memories and snippets of stories that come to life through images full of poetry, short stories that follow the rhythms of the river and the seasons.
