Belgrade – The Board of Friuli Venezia Giulia, following a proposal by President Debora Serracchiani, approved three development cooperation and international partnership projects that will take place in the Western Balkans, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. The total amount approved by the regional administration is €250.000. The first project, Farm with Science, follows into the footsteps of the Udine Food East last June and will take place in Montenegro and Serbia. It is a scientific dissemination project that uses digital tools to spread suggestions and answers on the improvement of agri-food products and activities. The technical partner is the Institute of Applied Genomics of Udine, and Friuli Venezia Giulia’s contribution amounts to €85.000 to cover the total project. To reach a wider area, which includes Serbia, Montenegro and Albania, another project, called Adri-OIS, has as technical partner the Area Science Park in Trieste, and follows the model of the Open Innovation system (OIS). The development and competitiveness of the territories are pursued with innovative systems and processes based on intense collaborations and technology transfers between the research system and companies. For this project, the region has committed €45.000. A longer project, that will last 36 months, is Iralt, taking place in Iran, Tunisia and Algeria and connected to the anniversary of the 1976earthquake. The goal of the initiative is to develop a culture of prevention regarding seismic risks by improving training and an integrated university-research centers-public institutions system to protect the environmental and cultural heritage of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Iran, Tunisia and Algeria.
