December 9th, 2015 – Basilicata makes its way to America, kicking off the first activities in the United States under the international project promoted by Sviluppo Basilicata “Mapping Basilicata” and the program of events LucaNY, thanks to which Basilicata’s traditional cuisine products will be presented to the American market, and in particular to the citizens of New York. The exhibition space in New Jersey, inaugurated by the President of the Basilicata Region, Marcello Pittella, is dedicated to typical Lucan products. The area will be used for about a month for meetings with industry operators, supply chain retailers and restaurateurs who will attend seminars on some of the regional foods promoted in the project. The first meeting – explains a note by Sviluppo Basilicata – was attended by representatives of the Matera District and the Metaponto District, which contributed to the initiative, as well as Rosario Vizzari, owner of Avant Garde, who will handle the distribution of Lucan products in the US territory. His company was founded in America but it has an Italian heart: a warehouse of 8000 square meters and a series of agreements with retailers around the country make it the perfect company for the marketing of products from Italy to the US market. Thanks to the agreement signed in conjunction with the Mapping Basilicata project, Avant Garde will take over the distribution of Lucan excellences selected for this important overseas showcase. “This project and its mode of operation – said President Pittella – are certainly a positive example of how private and public institutions can and must work together in favor of the real economy, creating positive impact on companies operating in our region. This project is also a positive example, for Lucan SMEs, on how to network to enter foreign and complex markets as the American one. Through this partnership, our traditional food excellences will be available to US consumers, who will discover the flavors of our land and the importance of eating healthy.” (Red)
