Berlin – The Veneto Region, Veneto Agriculture-Europe Direct Veneto and AVEPA presented in Lonigo-VI, on the occasion of the third and final meeting of the Triptych Vitivinicolo 2015, the final report on the latest regional wine harvest (+ 20% on 2014) and exports (which amounts to nearly €1.7 billion). This year’s summer sun could only give a more stellar vintage, with more than 12.5 million tons of grapes harvested in Veneto, for a +19.89% increase compared to 2014. Of these, 7.6 million are dedicated to the production of DOC and DOCG wines and almost 4 million to IGT wines. Wines from Veneto are mainly sold in Germany (€328 billion), the US (€290 billion) and the United Kingdom (€272 billion), where sparkling wines are a great success (€129 million sold and a +71% increase). Veneto’s bubbles now account for more than 50% of the national total, while the region’s wine now accounts for 29.5% of total Italian exports. (9Colonne)
