(8 January 2016) Sports and made Italy ride away together, starting in Argentina. After tennis (with the women’s national team), skiing (for years alongside Giuliano Razzoli), baseball, rugby, mountaineering and motor racing, the Consortium of Parmigiano Reggiano raises its commitment to support Italy’s sporting excellence once again. The Consortium will work with the women’s team cycling Alè Cipollini Galassia, which ranks in the top positions in the international women’s cycling leagues and counts 12 athletes with exceptional honors. “In recent years – said Giuseppe Alai, president of the Consortium – we have repeatedly invested resources to side along great champions and successful sports associations, but we have also worked with young promises, because they represent the fundamental values of our production system and our cheese: the determination of our producers, the ability to team up, the absolute naturalness of Parmigiano Reggiano, its energy value combined with a very high digestibility, which makes a perfect snack for those activities that require sustained effort over time. With this new combination – Alai continues – we have chosen to represent Parmigiano Reggiano in the world through a sports team of excellence.” The first date for the Alè Cipollini Galassia in conjunction with Parmigiano Reggiano (which was sponsor of the Beijing Olympics in cycling and has already linked its name to the Tour of Italy) is set for Jan. 10, when they will begin the Tour de San Luis in Argentina, which will last until 15 January. Of the 42 competitions, there are also the Tour of Flanders, the Fleche Wallonne, the Tour of Italy, the Tour de France as the European under-23 on road, the Vuelta in Spain, and the world championships on road, scheduled in Qatar for October 9-16. The athletes in the running are already at the top of the international rankings, boasting world champions and European champions on road and track in the team, as well as national champions. (Red)
